New Xbox? Not Quite Yet

All Things D (If you don’t follow them on Twitter, you should) recently had a brief conversation with Microsoft’s Frank Shaw regarding the future of Xbox. According to Shaw, there will be no Next Xbox announcement at E3 and no new console in 2012.

While we appreciate all the interest in our long-range plans for the future, we can confirm that there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon. For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360.

Seems to me that the “first to market” strategy works wonders (see Playstation 2  Xbox 360 success stories). And, it is possible that this is just marketing slight-of-hand.

We shall see.
