Hi my name is Jeff Beck my sign is a pisces and most of you know me as jwbeck. Pronounced “jew” beck and no I’m not jewish. I live in Lakeville, Minnesota. I’ve been married to my wonderful wife Jody for 17 years. We have 4 children: Haley 15 (Dizzo and Jay don’t get any ideas), Bryce 13, Bree 6, and Hannah 4. We also have 2 dogs in the house Colbie (shorky) and Butler the Bulldog.
For work I am a Sales Manager for a remodeling company in Bloomington, Minnesota. So if you have any questions about windows, siding, roofing, insulation, etc. Feel free to ask but I warn you by the time I’m done talking about it you will probably want to buy my shit. I went to High School in Tipton, Indiana and then on to college at Butler University in Indianapolis.
What are my interests/hobbies? I during the summer months I coach softball and football for my children’s activities. I love to golf and used to carry around a 4 handicap until I started having all these damn kids
… We spend most of our summer weekends down at the lakehouse fishing, riding the Sea Doo’s, etc. Once winter comes around the snowmobiles come out to play. Every winter I take my two oldest children out to the mountains to snowmobile. Oh yeah my other hobby is GEARS as you guys already know.
How did I get involved with gaming? Well it started with a commodore 64 computer and I still remember programming that thing in order to play a blackjack game. Then I begged my parents to get a Atari 2500. Then nintendo, sega genesis, super nintendo, and then a sony playstation. I was a big playstation guy for the longest time. I really only played the sports games back in the day, RBI baseball, madden, NBA Jams, hockey, etc… Then one day my playstation 2 just stopped working and a guy who worked for me at the time said I needed to get an xbox. He started talking about this game Halo 2 and how cool it was. I did my research in the gaming magazines and sure enough every rating in every magazine said that it was the shit. So I went out and purchased an xbox and Halo 2. Currently I own 2 xbox 360′s, playstation 3, and a wii.
How did I find Digital Violence? It all started while playing Halo 2. I was playing with this older guy who I didn’t even really know other than we had been playing Halo 2 on the same team for like 2 hours. He mentions to me that I should go check out this website for older gamers similar to myself. That is what got me on “The site that Hates Gears”. Then once Gears 1 came out I absolutely fell in love with the gameplay and the story line. At first I was splitting time between Gears and Halo but eventually more and more time was being spent on Gears 1. So, I started looking around on “The site that hates Gears for a Gears of War Clan”. Basically I had two options either AOW or Digital Violence. It appeared that AOW at the time was kind of all over the map as far as what they wanted to be or become. Digital Violence was pretty cut and dry. Not only are we a Gears clan but we are only looking for quality players. Well the only way to get any better at something is to play with the best in my opinion. I then proceeded to bug the shit out of Spooky and eventually after like two months they said ok you’re in. Biggest mistake they ever made
. I soon found out that most of the guys in DV had a pretty regular crew that they rolled with and new people typically, unless they were desperate, weren’t invited or they didn’t have room. They weren’t mean or anything just fairly set in who they played with and obviously used to winning. After about 2 months of being in the clan I went to Spooky again and said I need to get some of my buddies that I play with in the clan so that I have some peeps to roll with. Second biggest mistake Spooky made was saying ok jwbeck you can get some of your buddies into DV… Hence half of DV!!!!!!!
Favorite game right now other than Gears 3? Burn Zombie Burn on the Playstation 3 and Madden. The reason is because I enjoy playing these games with my son. We always play Madden together and create a Franchise, always the Steelers, and then we create a team of all rookies and normally we will play through about 10 seasons or so.
If I was choose 1 game on one console to play for the rest of my life what would it be? Gears 3. This game has so many different options on what to play. Horde, campaign, multiplayer, etc., etc. My second choice would be Halo 2… This was the game that got me started into multiplayer. I used to love just playing custom games and glitching out of maps, driving the ghost on top of maps, etc., etc.
